Our Roots
Jack Fry and Norm Rough founded the Antelope Valley's first travel agency in 1954. Located on Sierra Highway in the Arcade building in a converted theater where Judy Garland once performed.

In 1970, Jack and his wife Rose co-founded Jack Fry Travel on 10th Street West in Lancaster.

Today, Rose, her eldest son John and 12 experienced travel consultants are serving travelers from offices in Lancaster and Ridgecrest.

Meet the Lancaster Consultants

Deborah Buxton has traveled to England, Greece and throughout the Pacific including Hawaii, Fiji and Australia. She has cruised to Alaska, Mexico and New England. Deborah has fond memories of the Acropolis in Athens and Mykonos where she enjoyed the beach by day and the nightlife by night. Deborah has been with Jack Fry Travel since 1998.

Gail Laing has visited over 119 countries since her first trip to Europe at age 19. Since then, she has traveled extensively through out Africa, Asia and the Pacific with Australia being her favorite destination. By the end of 2008, she plans to have visited 130 countries. Gail's credentials include Destination Specialist for Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore and Kenya as well as certifications with many of the major cruise lines. Gail has been with Jack Fry Travel since 1990.

Kathy Nelson started her travel career in 1973 as a meeting and convention planner. Today, Kathy takes care of business and leisure travel for our corporate and entertainment industry clients. Kathy's in-depth knowledge and experience enable her to find good values for discerning travelers. Kathy has been with Jack Fry Travel since 1986.

Lois Wilk founded the Valley's first Cruise-Only agency specializing in group cruises. Lois has escorted cruise groups to all of the popular west coast destinations in addition to Europe, the Caribbean and the Panama Canal. Lois? affiliation with Jack Fry Travel began in 1982.

Nancy Lusk started her travel career in 1986 coordinating ground transportation for conventions and sporting events in Southern California. Today, Nancy specializes in vacations and cruises to Alaska, Hawaii and Mexico. Nancy is a certified Disney specialist having completed the Disney College of Knowledge. When she is not planning trips for others, Nancy is active in her church teaching Sunday school and singing in the choir. Nancy has been with Jack Fry Travel since 2000.

Shelley Hernandez has traveled extensively throughout Europe and has recently escorted a group to England, Scotland and Ireland. She has cruised to Alaska, Mexico, the Caribbean and the Mediterranean where her favorite ports of call included Greece and Turkey. In addition to cruises and groups, Shelley enjoys planning destination weddings and honeymoons. Shelley was a wedding cake baker before joining Jack Fry Travel in 1998.

Meet the Ridgecrest Consultants

Becky Simpson is a certified Disney specialist having completed the Disney College of Knowledge as well as certifications with the major cruise lines. She enjoys traveling to Laughlin, Reno, Las Vegas San Diego and Denver. Becky has been with Jack Fry Travel since 2006.

Bonnie Andes opened our Ridgecrest office in 1988. She has traveled throughout the world most recently on an extended trip to Southeast Asia. She has cruised to all of the popular destinations such as Mexico and Alaska and to exotic destinations such as the Baltic Sea and around Cape Horn. Bonnie?s specialty is custom trip planning.

Isabel Karty started her travel career in 1980 in Mexico City. She has traveled extensively through out Europe and has cruised to Alaska, Mexico and the Caribbean. Isabel has been with Jack Fry Travel since 1999.

Mary Covington is an accredited cruise counselor with CLIA and will admit that cruising is her favorite way to see new destinations. Hawaii, Alaska, Europe, and Mexico are her favorite places to explore. While she has traveled as far away as Australia, she still is impressed by trips to New York City, the West Coast, the Dakotas and train trips to the Grand Canyon. Her time is equally spent between leisure and business travel. Mary has lived in Ridgecrest since 1984 and has been with Jack Fry Travel since 1992.

Michele Guemes was born in Honolulu and has explored every island from Niihau to the Big Island. As a member of a military family, she has lived on both the west and east coasts and visited 45 states in between. She has cruised from Hawaii to California, the Mexican Riviera and the North Sea from Harwich to the Netherlands. She has traveled through out Europe with a special affinity for England where she is a devotee of the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford-Upon-Avon and National Theatre located in London?s South Bank. Michele has completed certifications with major cruise lines after starting with Jack Fry Travel in 2007.

Cynthia Edwards attended university in England and Switzerland and has not stopped traveling since. Her husband served in (and retired from) the Coast Guard and was stationed around the US. So Cynthia has lived in and/or visited all 50 states. Since retiring from 21 years teaching 8th grade, she has frequently visited and hosted former exchange students and their families, cruise the Caribbean, Mexican Riviera, Europe, Hawaii, and Alaska, and is constantly on the go. Cynthia is a Cancun certified agent.
